Neighborhood Reads: Meet your local author Hillary Raymer
Hillary is a Marine Corps spouse who has followed her spouse all over the world. After her husband retired they decided to settle in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
She has been writing for over 13 years. After getting rejected from literary agents and being told her work was not good enough, Hillary decided enough was enough. She is good enough and she proved it. She launched her own publishing company called BohoSoul Press LLC\. Her books can now be found anywhere books are sold online to include Amazon, Barnes & Nobles. Kono, Apple, etc.
Her completed works are two contemporary romances, Until Forever and Someday Maybe, both of which will be getting new covers soon. She is also preparing to start the third book in that series.
Her other books are fantasy romances, Crown of Roses and Throne of Dreams; they're the first two books in the Faeven Saga. Book three, Realm of Nightmares, will be released on Sept 26, 2023 and the fourth and final installment comes out next March.
Hillary is currently working on a new series that will be interconnected to the Faeven Saga, but she can't quite give any secrets away about that one just yet.
Her favorite part about writing is creating the characters and building the world they live in. She says,
“I know a lot of authors that write books that are plot-driven, or they focus on the plot firsthand, but I always start with the characters. Who they are, where they're from, what happened to them. It makes it easier for me to let their voices shine.”
When she's not working in her office, she either tries to write outside if the weather is nice or at her local Starbucks off of Rt 17. Though she’s always on the lookout for cozy coffee shops that feel like home to support our local community.
