North Stafford High School Highlights: A Timeless, Classic, and Magical Production: Introducing The Wizard Of Oz

North Stafford High School is proud to introduce the production: The Wizard of Oz. The Wizard Of Oz is a musical about a girl named Dorothy who travels to a magical land called Oz. On her journey to meet a magical Wizard who can take her back home, she meets friends and faces many challenges.

The production team has worked hard to make this musical extra special for the students and staff at North Stafford High School. All year long they have been dedicated to making amazing plays that are truly enjoyable for all students.

“We started the year with a dinner theater called: Cafe Murder. We had to perform in the cafeteria since our theater was going through renovations,” said director, Tyler Shore. “This was a huge hit with our community.”

Cafe Murder was a huge hit, as students talked about it for weeks, and its success is a testament to the dedication and passion the students have for theater and the fantastic leadership of Shore.

“I enjoy being able to teach students lifelong skills that they can use in the real world. I also enjoy problem-solving challenges that come up,” Shore continued. “I always look forward to opening night the most,” Shore said.

“My personal favorite part of the rehearsals is probably the energy of everyone,” said Bianca George, who has been involved with the theatre program at North Stafford for two years.

“I can really tell that everyone really puts in as much effort as possible, and it's truly endearing,” she continued.

“You can truly tell when a performance is a good performance when you can tell the actors are having fun with the show. I think seeing them enjoy themselves on stage adds on to the enjoyment of watching the show.”

Having fun and producing a great environment to be in is a common theme here at North Stafford. Our extracurricular activities really excel in this area by displaying a fun, upbeat, and lighthearted atmosphere.

Bianca mentioned that an important part of rehearsing and performing is not getting in your head. By this, she means that acting should feel as natural and flowy as having a conversation and this can only be perfected by practice.

“Having friends and great leadership that understands you and understands your struggles can really help the quality of your performance by uplifting you and supporting you,” she said.

“I do enjoy doing the Wizard Of Oz, it’s fun seeing things come together,” Bianca said. “Plus, there’s some stage magic that’s fun to act out!” Bianca will be playing the roles of Glinda and Aunt Em.

“I think that joining theatre was the main thing that helped me to make friends, to be honest. It's a huge safe space, and having that allowed me to be my authentic self and encouraged me to share that with others.”

Overall, North Stafford's production team is a great environment filled with quality leadership, passion, and is a great place to make friends.
