Heroes Spotlight: Meet Marine Corps Veteran Sgt. Kristin Psaros

Sgt Kristin Psaros is originally from Portland, Oregon and now resides in Stafford with her two daughters, Arianna (9), Olivia (14) and their lab mix Gunner (13).

She served in the Marine Corps for 8 years with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

During her time in Iraq, she was Lioness. This means she was attached to infantry units to conduct security check on female civilians.

During her deployment to Afghanistan, her daughter was 11 months old and missed her first birthday. That was hard, however, she knew it was her duty to serve. It’s a trait she instills in both her children today.

Serving in the Marine Corps entails putting the interests of others above her own. Being a mother was a significant way that she accomplished that. Being there for her daughters in good and terrible circumstances, and imparting life lessons will help them become better people.

It’s the same mentality she implemented when mentoring her Marines.

One of the many lessons she has learned from her time in service is to aid those who need support.

Currently Kristin is a Junior at Oregon State University majoring in marketing. She plans to retire from the federal government in 4 years and start her own consulting firm.

Kristin loves her neighborhood. Whenever she is need of support her neighbors are there to assist her. From fixing her car, to watching her kids while she has a business trip, her neighbors are more like family.

Kristin, thank you for your service.

We would love to feature our neighborhood heroes. If you know a service member, veteran, nurse, teacher, or first responder please email lizhensel@bestversionmedia.com

Liz Hensel - Content Coordinator

Liz has been living in the Stafford area for the last two years. However, her ties are rooted to Virginia, as Virginia was her first duty station while she was on active duty with the Marine Corps. Her husband is still on active duty, and they hope to make Stafford their forever home with their two daughters and two rescue dogs.

While serving in the Marine Corps and Marine Corps reserves has allowed Liz to see all parts of the country and the world, there is truly no place like home. Working on this magazine gives Liz the opportunity to meet her neighbors and the local businesses and more importantly, she gets to showcase them to others.

Liz is also the founder of a nonprofit called Leave No Paws Behind USA. She led the campaign to have legislative change to include pet transportation fees included in military moves. With her leadership, the bill was passed in the FY23 National Defense Appropriation Act.

Liz is excited to continue to write the stories of the FXBG Neighbors
